Today is the day… we are on our Week one update. Now, I don’t have too much to update right now because obviously, it’s only been 1 week.
Unfortunately for this first week and running into week 2 I haven’t been able to do all of the things I wanted to physically. I’ve been dealing with a few personal things that have restricted the amount of physical activity I am able to do. That being said, I did work on what I was eating.
I guess the first big update is that I am on 13 days no caffeine. This is a big deal for someone like me who basically survives off of caffeine. A pot of coffee and couple of cokes or a monster are the perfect ingredients to get me out of bed. Life without it is just… slow.
Like I said before, my activity level this week has been pretty low because I’ve had to take it easy this week, that being said, I did manage to make a trip out to Disney World this weekend. Disney is the best place to exercise! I spent the day carrying toddlers or pushing them in strollers. Plus, I’m counting the 23,287 steps I walked as cardio. That counts right? yeah… that counts.
I worked this week on trying to cut portion sizes and watching what I was eating. This is one of my favorite strategies. I don’t count calories or do super restrictive diets. I still ate cake on my daughters birthday and still allowed myself to eat things that I enjoyed like tacos but instead of eating say 4 tacos… I at 2. This seems to be a strategy that has worked pretty well for me in the past and I hope it continues to work for me this time.
So let’s get down to the number here. I haven’t done measurments yet, I plan on doing that this week, but I have done my weight. I started Sunday January 5th at 232.8 pounds. Officially my heaviest weight ever. Needless to say, I was not happy about that at all. So you can imagine how happy I was when I weighed in Sunday January 12th at 226.2 pounds. So through light physical activity and watching my portion sizes, I dropped a grand total of 6.6 pounds. Now, I’m not expecting another weight loss like that to happen. That is a lot of weight to lose in a very short amount of time and most of that was likely just bloating and water weight but I am really happy with this start. Hopefully within the next week I can start adding in more physical activity so I can start really working on building strength.
Overall I would say that it was a decent week and a good kick off to the year and to trying to get healthier.
