Big changes may be coming to the Fastpass+ system at Hollywood Studios

Heads up, Walt Disney World guest, there may be some pretty big changes coming to how Disney prioritizes the rides at Hollywood Studios once Galaxy’s Edge opens August 29, 2019.

The way that the Tier system works for Fastpasses is that Tier 1 rides (think highest demand rides like Slinky Dog Dash and Alien Swirling Saucers) you can only pick one of. So you can have one Tier 1 ride in you group of 3 Fastpasses. Then you have Tier 2 rides, which are normally shows and older rides so things like the beauty and the beast show or Star Tours. These options you can grab two fastpasses for.

According to reports from Chip & Co., most of the rides at Hollywood Studios are going to be moved to Tier 1 of the Fastpass+ System. This means that booking rides at Hollywood Studios may become even harder. Slinky Dog Dash, Alien Swirling Saucers, Toy Story Mania are all part f the tier 1 level already but it looks like Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Rock “n” Roller Coaster are also going to be added to the list. Tier 2 of the Fastpass+ System will consist of the shows- so Beauty and the Beast, Lightning McQueens Racing Academy, Indiana Jones, Voyage of The Little Mermaid, etc will all be on Tier 2.

The world’s still out on Star Tours and Fantasmic, which are not showing on either Tier 1 or Tier 2 at this time.

Also, no fastpasses will be available for Galaxy’s Edge rides once they open, so I am not sure where they will eventually end up.

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, has not been mentioned either, but I’d say that is pretty safe to assume this and all of the Galaxy’s Edge ride will eventually end up as Tier 1 options.

Just be prepared if you plan on visiting Hollywood Studios, that there may be some changes to how you can plan your rides starting August 29, 2019. On top of this possible changes to the Fastpass+ options, don’t forget that August 29,2019 is also opening day for Galaxy’s Edge and park hours starting the same day will be extended daily from 6 am- 10 pm EST. So, lots of changes to look forward to with once Galaxy’s Edge Opens in Disney World’s Hollywood Studios.
