Gosh, I feel like I’ve been saying this every day over the last week or so, but… we have more exciting news out of Disney! Thursday April 11, 2019, Disney executives announced more information, including the launch date, for their much anticipated Disney+ Video Streaming Service.
It was announced that the Disney+ Streaming Service would be launched November 12, 2019! Can you hear the fan girl squealing? I know I sure do! And they are expecting it to cost $6.99 per month or $69.99 per year. You’ll be paying around half of what Netflix is currently charging per month for it’s streaming services. So the price is going to be very affordable.
According to CCN- Disney+ will debut in the United States, but the company said it “plans to be in nearly all major regions of the world within the next two years.”
Now don’t think that you’re just going to be getting Moana and Frozen in your video catalog. Oh no! Disney has already said that it is going to have an extensive catalog of movies available for you, including classics! It’s even been rumored that movies like Song of the South will be available. But It was revealed that they are going to have exclusive original shows featuring some of your favorite characters from movies like Monsters, inc. as well.
Some of the shows that will be launching will allow Disney to expand on characters that we already know and love so we can get a more in depth look at them. Disney+ is planning on have four different live action series based on the Marvel characters Scarlet Witch and Vision, The Winter Soldier, Falcon, and Hawkeye. There are plans for live-action shows for “Star Wars-Clone Wars” as well as “Rogue One- A star Wars Story”.
There are a series of Pixar shorts in the planning, featuring characters like Bo Peep from “Toy Story” as well as shows featuring “Monsters, inc.” characters.
Don’t think this service will be solely dedicated to Disney and Pixar though. Remember the merger between 20th Century Fox and Disney, well you’ll be seeing some of your favorite Fox features as well. Shows like the “Simpsons” and “Malcom in the Middle” will be available for streaming as well as movies like “The Princess Bride” and “The Sound of Music”. There will also be content from National Geographic.
Also expect to see movies like Frozen II and other upcoming box office releases to be released to the streaming service more quickly. For example they are expecting Frozen II to be on the service as early as the summer of 2020.
As if all of this content and the amazing price aren’t good enough, all of the content will be downloadable, meaning that you will be able to watch your favorite shows and movies on the go…no matter where you’re at.
To say I’m kind of excited about this would be an understatement. I’ve already told the hubby that we will be Disney+ members the second it’s live. Are you as excited to see everything that will be available on this brand new Disney streaming platform? What are you most excited to see? Let me know in the comment section below!
